Upriver Co-op

9 09 2008

So I went last night to a meeting of the Upriver Co-op in town. It wasn’t the first meeting of the group and it seems like the idea is gelling quite well! The concept is exciting and I hope it comes to fruition.

Currently the group is looking for a space in Marblemount preferably with a commercial kitchen. Hopefully they can find something soon.

There’s mention of it here in this article interviewing Steve and Corina Sahlin http://www.goskagit.com/home/article/marblemount_boom_or_bust/

The next meeting is a potluck scheduled for Sunday August 28th at 2pm at either the Rockport Fire Hall or picnicking behind the Marblemount Community Center. (Oops! I’ll find out and post the location for sure.)

Leave me a comment if you’d like a contact for the Upriver Co-op group or contact Michelle Coda, Nina Dent or Christie Fairchild.

Greetings! i know this is off topic but wanted to see if you knew of website that listed the majority of food purveyors, growers & farmers that restaurants can buy product from…in Skagit County.

The Slow Food Skagit River Salish Sea Convivium has a great bunch of lists of farmers and producers on their website http://www.slowfoodskagit.org/ After that, I think you just have to contact them individually.

Hope that helps, Ian! Let me know if you have a restaurant that features local foods that I need to visit. 🙂
